HOMEWORK: Find evidence - 2 quotes - that shows the magic of home in "The Rocket." Write this evidence on the left side of a page (dialectical journal-style) in the notes section of your notebook. You do not have to analyze it.

WHAT WE DID IN CLASS TODAY:
Today, we learned how to write analysis. These are the steps for writing analysis about a specific quote:
1. Hone down your evidence to one or two of the sentences that shows best what it is your are trying to prove.
2. Determine and write out the context of the quote.
3. Determine exactly what the quote shows about your topic. This will later become the topic sentence of your paragraph.
4. Cull out the important words of your evidence - the words you focused on when you were thinking about selecting your evidence.
5. Explain how this quote relates to previous scenes in the book of what you know about the world.
6. Explain how this quote proves your topic sentence.

We practiced this exercise on two quotes from "The Longest Rain."
