WHAT WE DID IN CLASS TODAY:
We were lucky to get to watch scenes from the movie The Illustrated Man while I finished up writing conferences.

The outline due date has been pushed to Monday, so you will have some feedback on writing analytically and on your outlines over the weekend.

We also discussed the reading contest to be held the last 6 week grading period. Each student must select a book of their own choosing for free reading. Your independent reading grade will be awarded based on your ability to finish the book and hold an educated and informed conversation with me about the book in meetings to be scheduled during lunch or after school. Everyone must read at least one book, preferably one that provides some challenge, but is still enjoyable. For those who like a little competition, I have challenged you to read as many pages as possible. The student who has read the most pages by Jan. 8 will win 50 points of extra credit that can be applied to any assignment or assignments. In order to participate, you must have each book that you read approved by me and you must schedule a book interview with me each time you finish a book. For each book interview, you must have the book with you. At the end of the contest time, I will tabulate the number of pages read for each student and determine the winner.
HAPPY READING!
