ENGLISH 10HP

So our first week has come to an end. I love that so many of my students from last year are in my class again this year. I hope they feel the same way. I look forward to working with the new and old students this year. I am motivated by many students' attitude toward their work. They seem to understand that in 10th grade, the game is on. I hope we can keep up the intensity when the pace quickens. Unfortunately, not all of the students are as focused yet. I was saddened to discover that many were not able to complete the summer reading. I hope this doesn't mean that these students
don't like to read; their year will be quite difficult if that is the case.

Looking Forward: One skill I really want to focus on now is the marking up of texts. Again, it is not enough to highlight important parts. You must mark in the margins why those parts are important. I know I will have 100% of the class thoroughly reading and marking up text by the end of next week.
Have a restful weekend!

HOMEWORK DUE MONDAY:
1. Your supplies - please consult the syllabus for those.
2. The Curious Incident of a Vandal in the Nighttime Worksheet and dialogue. The dialogue should be typed. And remember, you must have your work ready at the beginning of the class. If you need to print out something, you must come before class.
