WHAT WE DID IN CLASS TODAY:
• Discussed examples of rootedness and restlessness in "The Highway," "The Man," and "The Rocket Man."

• Explored the magic of home in "The Last Night of the World."

• Discussed the following about "No Particular Night or Morning" :

1. Explain the story's title.

2. Why does Hitchcock refuse to believe in Earth?

3. What initially appealed to him about space travel?

4. What troubles Hitchcock about "gaps and spaces?"

5. Describe Hitchcock's death. How is his method of death sadly appropriate?

6. How might true loneliness - a complete disconnection like Hitchcock's - contribute to insanity and even death? Why are connections so vital to our well-being? Provide specific examples (from your experience, your reading) to support your points.

HOMEWORK: Read "The Rocket," "The Long Rain," and "The Visitor." Mark up for ideas about the magic of home. Read "Kaleidoscope" and mark up for ideas about the good life.
