WHAT WE DID IN CLASS TODAY:
• Quiz on Chapter 1-10 in Frankenstein.

•"Rime of the Ancient Mariner" and Frankenstein discussion:
1. Reread the last four stanzas. What theme statements do you see? Write them here.

2. Is the albatross some sort of symbol? Which is more important, the fact that the Ancient Mariner kills; that he kills without a reason to do so; or that he kills an albatross?

3. How is the poem Romantic? Explain.

4. Identify the parallels between Frankenstein and "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner." (Think about Walton and Frankenstein.)

• Reread Ch. 5 and discussed the responsibility of the creator for the creature - we also discussed God's attitude toward Adam and Eve and Prometheus' attitude toward man.

HOMEWORK:
• read chapters 11-17 in Frankenstein by Monday.
• Creation project due Tuesday:Directions: Review the contents of chapters 5 and 6. Then create an original artwork. Choose one of the following projects:

1. Short video or PowerPoint presentation with musical background and/or voice over
2. Series of drawings representing the emotions of joy and sorrow
3. Original poem titled by a phrase from Chapter 5 or 6
4. Original sculpture that reflects some aspect of the novel
5. Other creative project in the medium of your choice
