PRESENTATION DAY

We began today making a deserted island playlist for our iPods. We listed 5 songs by title and artist and then explained why those are songs we could listen to for the rest of our lives over and over again. Our classes seemed to have quite a variety of musical tastes from Mahler to Boston to Lil Wayne to MGMT. We then began the free choice summer reading book report extravaganza. What creativity! What poise the students showed! Hopefully, this exercise will help them become more comfortable speaking in front of a group of people; we do that a lot of that in this class. Tomorrow, the presentations continue.

HOMEWORK:
We are beginning our next process piece, an interview narrative of another person in the class. We discussed the elements of a good interview narrative or profile: a hook or a lead that gives the who, what , where, when, and why/how; interesting background information; biographical data; physical description; direct quotes. For homework, students are to read the following article and underline and label the elements of the profile. Furthermore, students should write 5-7 questions that they think the journalist may have asked Bethany in order to get the information for the profile.

Here is the article we are reading and analyzing tonight:
