WHAT WE DID IN CLASS TODAY
We learned about the "Do Now" which will mostly be the Writer's Notebook. We first watched "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On." Then, we began the writer's notebook with the following prompt: Create a character. Write a monologue in the voice of that character.

Finally, we learned the vocabulary notebook format that we will use for the rest of the year. You should use the vocabulary notebook format for the vocabulary from your free choice summer reading book. In the space at the bottom right of the format, you should write 2 synonyms and 1 antonym for the word.

HOMEWORK
1. Supplies are due tomorrow. Here is the list:
• 1 – 2” binder with 3 dividers
• Blue or black pens
• College-ruled notebook paper
• Post-It notes
• 1-marbled composition notebook
--Recommended: a USB flash drive for work done on your home computer that cannot be printed out.
2. Have your syllabus signed by a parent. (Last sheet of syllabus.) Due Thursday.
3. Free choice book report due Wednesday.
